SUGARMILL WOODS GOLF MAINTENACE
NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2008
This year our overseed is going to take place during the month of November. The following are the overseeding dates for our golf course. During the week of November 4th, we will be overseeding all surfaces on Oak. Cypress will be done during the week of November 10th and Pine will be done during the week of the 17th. This is our tentative schedule and this may change due to weather or irrigation problems. As we establish our overseed, it is important that we keep our young seedlings wet in order to have a healthy stand of overseed for our winter months. This means that we will have to run irrigation throughout the day so that our overseed can mature and withstand the winter traffic. This usually lasts about two weeks after dropping seed. When we reach this point we will go back to irrigating at night. Our height of cut will be raised for our first cut and gradually drop over the next few weeks. The golf maintenance staff asks that all members use the 90-degree rule as much as possible so that we can establish a good stand of overseed. At this time we are going to eliminate any dead trees and low-lying branches so that we have a “clean” looking course. Please don’t hesitate to call our golf maintenance office if you have any questions at 382-4010.
